A vow to sacrifice an animal is not fulfilled merely by donating its price. First establish exactly which act was vowed.
Diyanet states that someone who vowed to sacrifice an animal and distribute its meat to people in need fulfils that obligation by sacrificing the animal. Money or goods do not automatically replace slaughter. Offering meal support and adak slaughter under the same name can therefore mislead users.
For a soup kitchen option, ask whether the price covers only ready-made meals or the slaughter of the chosen animal and use of its meat. The service description should explain this simply. Different distribution methods must not be confused with no slaughter taking place at all.
If the person vowed a different act of worship rather than sacrifice, the assessment may differ. This general explanation is not a single answer for all vows. Clarifying intention and scope before payment helps avoid later problems from choosing the wrong offering or receiving an incomplete service.
